finding time
so many people ask me how i find the time to blog amidst all of life's other necessities. i do it because i enjoy it. because it's important to me to keep record of my daughter's life (on my personal blog) and i do it here because "music is my motor." it's my passion. and just because i'm a mom doesn't mean i want to give that up. i think it's important to keep up with my passion, in hopes of passing it down to my daughter.
i remember the first time i heard "let it be" by the beatles, my life was never the same. i have many songs that have influenced my life in some way, but "let it be" REALLY REALLY changed it. before the beatles i had boyz II men on tape and not much else. i want luci to have songs like that too.
i blog because i want to always remember and appreciate my love for music. i hope you love the songs i write about here too.
THIS
is luci's favorite song right now. i don't think she's too young to play songs like this, in hopes that the message and song will somehow influence her life. to tell her, you can do anything girl. for now, it's cool to just dance. but later, maybe "i'll see you on the moon."
*i originally heard this song on a "for the kids" compilation. they are great! go HERE to check them out. there are three discs i believe.

super cute
something has to be really cute for me to describe it as "super cute." sometimes that just sounds really ridiculous, but not in this instance. the below song, by the do, is simply cute. i love the simple beat and the vocals. the lead singer's voice reminds me of the lead singer of frente. remember that band? takes me back to the mid 90's cruising around in my friend casey's red grand prix before he came out. i didn't think he was gay then, but my god, what straight dude listens to frente? man, i love that dude! and i miss our daily cruises.
and for fun, bizarre love triangle by frente is below:

if I can't change your mind (then noone will)
i made a cd back in 2000 with the below song on it. i haven't been able to figure out who it is until last night, when i heard it on 88.9 The Impact.
it's by sugar, "if i can't change your mind." (lead singer bob mould ended up going solo shortly after i think and i'm not sure what happened to sugar.)
great catchy tune. reminds me of jogs in chicago when i used to run with a huge portable cd headphone player. not the awesome, tiny ipod i have now. sometimes i miss the old technology. mix tapes and cds just aren't what they used to be. to others anyway. i still love getting them and making them but find my friends aren't as excited to receive them as they used to be. everyone just wants to buy online.
anyway, check out the below song.

i love luci's babysitter stephanie. she's a cute little hippie chick who's really smart. she's awesome with luci and she also has great taste in music.
today lu was walking around with her iphone and playing the following song. i've always liked dispatch and really like this song.

regina spektor tomorrow- YES!
i love love love regina spektor. she is absolutely amazing and puts on a hell of a show. my mom and i are going to see her in AA tomorrow night and i am so pumped.
(yes i just said "pumped)
i hope she plays the below song tomorrow as well as some other faves: us, better, samson, on the radio (the LYRICS http:// depict the meaning of life i swear) and so many more. her music is just perfect to me.
"Just come and open up your folding chair next to me
My feet are buried in the sand and there's a breeze
There's a shadow
You can't see my eyes
And the waves are just a frothier version of the skies"

why can't I be this cute?
and have some musical talent while we're at it? Well I'd take the talent over cuteness. I think?
Anyway, check out this fun song below by Hello Sunshine. I think Luci will like this one:
